As ubiquitous as the Internet is in our lives today—with our increasing dependence on Internet-enabled e-mail, text and video messaging, streaming video, websites, blogs, and a constantly evolving array of apps—it’s hard to imagine that the web has been around for little more than twenty years, and didn’t gain widespread use until only about fifteen years ago. Despite this fact, a number of companies have emerged to become leaders in this new industry including Google, Facebook, eBay, and YouTube. Industry leaders come and go, and any company can become a leader if it takes focused action to do so. In this final part, we consider how to develop and maintain a good reputation—both inside and outside the organization—creating buzz, building and maintaining momentum in uncertain times, and practicing incremental evolution.
