Blushing Rosé Sangria

Serves 6 to 8

For the ladies who brunch or the ladies who want to binge-watch the latest dating show on Netflix… this one is for all of you! It’s so smooth, sweet, and fresh, like a gentle kiss on a summer day… HA! But seriously, don’t plan on having one glass of this—plan on many, enjoyed in the company of your favorite friends. It’s only right.

SIMPLE SYRUP

¼ cup sugar

¼ cup water

SANGRIA

1 (750ml) bottle chilled rosé wine (Whispering Angel is my jam)

8 ounces bourbon

4 ounces peach schnapps

8 ounces grapefruit juice

8 to 10 dashes grapefruit bitters

Grapefruit or peach slices, for garnish (optional)

MAKE THE SIMPLE SYRUP: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and water and heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and let cool. The syrup can be made ahead and stored in a lidded jar, refrigerated, for months.

MAKE THE SANGRIA: Pour the cooled syrup into a large pitcher and add the rosé, bourbon, schnapps, grapefruit juice, and bitters and stir well. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving; the sangria will keep for 1 day.

To serve, pour into ice-filled glasses and garnish each with a grapefruit or peach slice if you like.
