“What a busy day it has been.” Luma yawned, crawling into bed after dinner and a bath.
“Luma?” Timir asked.
“Yes, Timir?”
“You have tape on you … I will help.”
Luma heard a ripping sound from her shoulder. She turned around and laughed. “Not more tape!”
“It is attacking my claw!” Timir wailed, trying to shake it off.
“I will help you,” Luma said, reaching forward to grab it. “You have to stay still, Timir!”
Timir rolled onto his back, his claw with the tape attached waving in the air.
“Ouch!” he said, when Luma finally managed to pull the tape away.
“Sorry,” Luma said, tickling his scaly tummy. “I think we will have to give our room a good clean tomorrow.”
“But I want to get ready for dragon school,” Timir said. “Do you think I will have special school clothes?”
Luma smiled, imagining Timir in a school uniform. “I don’t think dragons wear clothes,” she said.
“I do when I am a pirate.”
“Maybe when you dress up, then.”
“What about a school bag like your bag? And will I need pencils and pens and ooh … erasers! They are yummy.”
Luma giggled. “Erasers are not for eating.”
“Will I get a packed lunch?” Timir asked, a dreamy look on his face. “Jammy sandwiches, cheese cubes, crunchy carrots…”
The bedroom door opened.
Timir quickly shook and changed into a puppy as Mom walked in.
“Thank you for all your help today,” Mom said, tucking them into bed. “You made Nani’s birthday very special.”
“The cake was delicious,” Luma said.
“Cake!” Timir squealed. “Can I have cake in my packed lunch?”
Mom bent down to kiss Luma and then Timir. “Good night, you two.”
The light turned off as the bedroom door shut.
“Time for sleep now, Timir,” Luma said.
“But I am excited,” Timir said. “I want to know more about dragon school.”
“We can ask Nani tomorrow,” Luma said.
“Will Zayan be there?”
“I hope so,” Luma said.
Timir let out a happy sigh and snuggled up to Luma. “Night, night.”
And with that he began to snore.
“Good night, my Timir.” Luma smiled and soon drifted fast asleep.
