Though half the height of both male and female figures is made up of the length of the legs, the placement of the waist is different. Men have a low waistline with high, broad shoulders, making for a large torso. Women have a high waistline with low, narrow shoulders, making a small torso and large abdomen. Though there can be many generalizations concerning gender differences, perhaps the only consistent difference between male and female appearances is the placement of the waistline. For the sake of comparison, we’re showing the male and female illustrations overlapping one another at the same height, though men are typically taller than women.
With the female figure placed in front of the male, size comparisons of the features are more noticeable, especially in the upper body. The female neck is thin and long, making the shoulders lower than the male. The female torso is small with a high waist.
The leg length and the fall of the hands in relation to the upper leg is the same for both figures.
From the side, the slender female form is noticeable in front of the thicker male form. The arms, legs and neck of the male are also thicker than those of the female.
