The outer shape of shoes follows the form of the feet for the most part. Though it may not be necessary to draw the feet inside the shoes, understanding the form of the feet is essential to drawing the shoes.
This sketch with the drawing shows how the form of the shoes is influenced by the shape of the feet.
Footwear can vary and can be as unique as the wearer. Many times a personality aspect of the wearer shows up in her choice of shoes.
High heels or pumps can change the appearance of the feet, ankles and legs. Without pumps, the feet are flat to the pavement. When the shoes have a heel that is higher than the front of the foot, the ankles and legs look longer and take on a different shape than when flat-footed.
