Broccoli with Gomasio and Ginger

Gomasio is a traditional Japanese condiment of organic sesame seeds, seaweed, and sea salt. Paired with ginger, it adds a nice zip to the broccoli. This works well with Turkey Meatloaf (page 45).

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:

1 large head broccoli

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

1 tablespoon gomasio (or 1 tablespoon sesame seeds and ¼ teaspoon sea salt)


 

Directions:

1.   Rinse broccoli and cut into florets. Peel stems and cut into rounds.

2.   Fill a pot with 2 inches of water, add broccoli and garlic, cover, and bring to a boil. When broccoli turns bright green, drain and rinse with cold water. Put back in pot and cover to keep warm.

3.   In a large bowl, combine ginger and gomasio. Add broccoli and toss.
