A book such as Whispering Vines calls for not only imagination but also quite a lot of research, both historical and in person. It also requires the help of many people to aid in accuracy and for contributions. I thank the owners of La Dama Vineyard in Verona for answering my many questions about wine making. Learning the intricacies of wine tasting was truly the best part of my research! I also must thank Antonella Fantoni, the most superb tour guide in all of Europe, for sharing her vast amount of knowledge and answering my many inquiries about Florence, Italian history, art, and Robbia and his work.
