Epilogue

Phil

As expected, Sophie’s popularity and adoration from her fan base only grew from her Wembley performance. The new security team didn't disappoint us, and I ended up staying a few months over in London to reconstruct the team at headquarters.

Slowly but surely, we hunted down Sophie's stalkers and put surveillance on them. Over a dozen of them broke the restraining orders and were arrested and put in prison. They would eventually get out, but we would know when.

We continued to watch the remaining ones. More death threats came in, but we now had a handle on the security, and Sophie started to be able to live life without it constantly being on her mind.

I continued to be updated, but I had promised Sophie I would step back and go on an as-needed basis, and that's what I did.

Sophie's tour was canceled by her old label, and they were trying to fight her on leaving. Our legal team handled things, and the judge ordered them in breach. They were appealing, but we weren't worried about it.

As Claire thought, there wasn't enough evidence to put Terry in jail, but we had a restraining order against him, and Sophie was no longer tied to him.

That was until we figured out how the breaches in our technology had occurred. Andrew and Terry had created a deal before we’d even bought Krastnor Securities. Andrew had been leaking security information to Terry and giving access to the hackers who were on Terry’s payroll. Terry’s plan had been for one of Sophie’s many stalkers to kill her, and besides leaking information to the press, he was also furnishing several of the men on the extremely dangerous list with information on how to get to her.

I discovered it all when Tom and I hired outside hackers to hack into our system and see what our weak spots were. During that project, the hackers we hired discovered an interesting chain of emails between Andrew and Terry, which the police were finally able to utilize. Both men had been arrested and were facing some very serious charges internationally.

It was March, and we were finally heading back to New York. Sophie had stayed with me in London. We never discussed her staying; it just naturally evolved. We hadn't seen any of our friends since December, and we were excited to get back home.

We were flying back on the jet. I was sitting on the couch, and Sophie grabbed her tote bag and climbed up so she was sitting behind me. She unbuttoned my shirt and slid it off me.

I gave her a sly grin. "What are you doing, Petal?"

She pulled her lotion out of her bag. "Going to get your knots out." She squirted the lotion on her hands and rubbed them together, then started to dig into my shoulders.

Her hair was purple now, and it slid over my shoulders as she leaned forward and whispered in my ear, "How much do you like your apartment?"

"My apartment?"

"Yes. Your apartment. How much do you like it?" She lightly sucked on my earlobe.

"I like it. Why?"

"Hmm." She dug her thumbs harder into my knots.

"What's the ‘hmm’ about?" I asked her.

She kissed my jawline. "What do you think about my penthouse?"

"Your penthouse is awesome. Why?"

"I think you should move into my penthouse with me," she whispered.

I turned to look at her.

She had a nervous look on her face.

"You want me to move in with you?"

She nodded.

I was going to say yes, but decided that it was a long flight, so we might as well have some fun. There was no question in my mind I would be moving in with her. Her place had a recording studio, and that’s what was best for her. But I got up, opened the drawer on the table, and pulled out a deck of cards. There was something I had been wanting to do since the first night I met her.

"I hear you're good at poker. Let's play. If you win, I move into your place. If I win, you move into mine."

She gave me a cocky look. "Where are the chips?"

I licked my lips at her. "We don't have any chips."

She raised her eyebrow, lowered her voice, and said in a sultry tone, "Then I think we're going to have to play some strip poker."
