In the Map on p. 54 the nomenclature is in several Mediterranean languages. On each non-Muslim city between Ceuta and Venice, a banner identifies the city as Christian, reflecting the influence of the Crusades. The row of tents pictured in Africa are similar to those on the 1563 map by Giacomo de Maggiolo. The Maps on p. 80-90 of the Miller Atlante are so named after their last owner. This atlas, considered a major work of art as well as significant source of maritime information, is unfortunately now incomplete. It once covered the entire known world before the Magellan discoveries. Portuguese banners on the maps show the important markets or new discoveries of that nation.
