The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. At around nine in the morning, the sun will be halfway between the eastern horizon and its highest point.
When it reaches its highest point, the sun is directly overhead. It’s about noon—time for lunch!
Then the sun moves toward the west. Halfway to the western horizon, it’s about three o’clock in the afternoon. As the sun sets, evening falls. It’s dinnertime!
You can also tell time by looking at a cat’s eye! A cat’s pupils—the black part of the eye—change to let in more or less light throughout the day. They are usually slits at midday, when the sun is strongest, ovals at midmorning and midafternoon, and round at night.
