Tigers live in India, China, and other parts of Asia. Once we saved a tiger from a poacher’s trap. Since they’re an endangered species, saving one is a big deal.
Teddy’s bark protected us from a tiger, but if you live in a faraway jungle with tigers on the prowl, you’ll need a better plan to face the largest cat on earth. Don’t worry too much about this happening. You have a better chance of being hit by a meteorite than meeting a tiger that’s taking a stroll.
1. If the tiger is far off, run away fast! If it is close by, stand still so it won’t see you moving.
2. If you sense that a tiger is behind you, turn around and yell, roar, scream, snarl, bark, hoot, and shout! Hold up your arms and wave them so that you look tall. Walk like a zombie! Like all cats, even house cats, tigers like to ambush their prey and usually attack from behind. Your actions might scare it away.
3. Grab the biggest rock or stick you can find. Act fierce and brave, and hit it with all you’ve got! Tigers don’t usually expect much of a fight. Bold action on your part might give you a chance to escape. Good luck! (You’ll need it.)
