After a big thunderstorm or a natural disaster like a hurricane, twister, or earthquake, the power may go out. There will be no lights, air-conditioning, heat, TV, or radio. If the outage lasts awhile, there might not even be any water. The food in the refrigerator will spoil after several hours. Help!
When you hear storm warnings, make sure there are flashlights and candles around the house. Fill the bathtub with water for flushing the toilets. It’s also a good idea to stock up on bottled water and canned or packaged food that doesn’t need cooking.
If the power goes out at night, grab a good book, turn on your flashlight (leave the candles for the adults), hide under the covers, and read, read, read!
