About the Author

Caroline Benser lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where she teaches piano and writes as an independent music historian. Her interest in contemporary European and American history, with a special focus on biography and oral history, served as the basis for her biography of Austro-English composer and musicologist Egon Wellesz and later her bio-bibliography, with David Francis Urrows, of American composer Randall Thompson. From 2006 to 2010 she served as the recording-review editor of the journal American Music.
