Fight! What do you do when you see some kids beating up another? Most will hurry over to watch. Some may cheer on the fighters. A few join in and help pound the victim. Maybe someone will run to get help, or even try to break it up. But it’s really tough to decide in the moment. The short book of Obadiah helps us think about situations like this ahead of time. When God’s people were attacked, the Edomites stood by and watched (verse 11) and then piled on the losers (verse 14)! God said, “because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you will be covered with shame” (verse 10). So what will you do when it happens in your school? Decide now, and you’ll be ready to do the right thing then.
Obadiah
Getting Even.
Obadiah expresses God’s anger with Edom, an enemy of God’s people, who will be punished.
