The Bible says you’re not saved by doing good deeds (Ephesians 2:8–9). But it also says that people who are saved should “devote themselves to doing what is good” (Titus 3:14). The Greek word used here for good means “right and beneficial.” Good deeds are actions you take to benefit others.
You don’t have to look too far to find good deeds to do. You can help out at home. Help a friend study for a test. Volunteer at a hospital or retirement home. Give the clothes you outgrow to a thrift store. Help a neighbor with yard work or shopping. The opportunities are all around you. Be devoted to doing good, and the greatest blessing of all will be yours!
Titus
Leadership.
Paul wrote this short letter to Titus, a young leader in Crete. Paul tells him the best way to influence others. And Paul reminds him that people who know Jesus should concentrate on doing good.
