French Toast Sticks
Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 12 minutes | Serves 4
3 slices low-sodium whole-wheat bread, each cut into 4 strips
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon 2 percent milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 egg white
1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  1. Arrange the bread strips on a plate and drizzle with the melted butter.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, egg and egg white.
  3. Dredge the bread strips into the egg mixture and place on a wire rack to let the batter drip off. Arrange half the coated bread strips in the air fryer basket.
  4. Put the air fryer basket on the baking pan and slide into Rack Position 2, select Air Fry, set temperature to 380ºF (193ºC) and set time to 6 minutes.
  5. After 3 minutes, remove from the oven and turn the strips over. Return to the oven to continue cooking.
  6. When cooking is complete, the strips should be golden brown. Repeat with the remaining strips.
  7. In a small bowl, mash the strawberries with a fork and stir in the lemon juice. Serve the French toast sticks with the strawberry sauce.
