LANDRY SAT IN HIS RECLINER as he stared at his notes on his tablet. The television was on for background noise, but he wasn’t even sure what was playing. His mind was preoccupied with the case.
Even when at home, he couldn’t leave his work behind, no matter how hard he tried. The case intruded into his dreams lately. Files littered the coffee table; pictures were scattered across the living and dining room.
He was beginning to wonder if his passion for his line of work was what kept him from having anything in common with the outside world. His world seemed to revolve around work and nothing else.
He needed to get inside the mind of this killer; think like her and figure out who she preyed on. Of all the men that were in the bar, why did she choose that man? What made the clients she killed different from all the rest? He needed to get one step ahead of her so that he could catch her. He had to figure out what prompted her to kill.
So far, none of the men’s physical characteristics have matched, so it was something else. Maybe it’s the way they treated her? Chloe’s image flashed through his mind all of a sudden.
