Chapter 11

Brick

“Rahlo, meet me at the location I told you this morning. I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.” I said through my cars Bluetooth system. The last thing I wanted to do was talk to this nigga. But Kiana made it clear that switching up was out of the question.

“Babe we don’t want him to know that we know. Take him to the old mill barn and make him think that that’s where you keep the product.

But don’t say ‘product’ say ‘everything that’s important to you’ that way the wire his snitch ass is wearing won’t record you saying anything incriminating.

I spoke with the DEA agent I have on payroll, she said he’ll be mic’d for audio. But not for visual so they won’t have any footage. So, when they bust the old mill. They won’t find anything.” Kiana said as she held an icepack against her face to take the sting out of her face from where Avalon backhand slapped her.

Thinking about how cutthroat Kiana’s setup game is made me proud. Most women wouldn’t even know how to go about plotting a setup like she did.

“I’m on my way. I’ll be there in less time than that.” Rahlo said then hung up the phone. After all the years that I had known this nigga, I couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that my friend was the one bringing the heat.

Using the short cut to the old mill barn, I pulled up to the back and ran inside and hid the 6 bricks of All-Purpose Flour that Kiana packaged, and hid them under the steel trap door.

“Let the games begin.” I said as I ran back to my car left the barn and drove back to the highway so that I get to the barn the right way.

It took me twenty minutes to get to the barn from the main highway. When I got there, Rahlo was standing outside of his Range Rover smoking a blunt staring at the sun.

“Nigga what you are staring at so hard?” I asked as I walked up to him. He looked like he didn’t have a care in the world. Like stabbing me in the back was an everyday occurrence for him.

“Man, that bitch Charmaine called me when I was driving up here. The bitch talking about she thinks the baby is mine. This bitch talking about on the ultrasound that the baby looks just like me. She doesn’t care who she pins that baby on. Just as long as it’s on a nigga with some money.” Rahlo said as he hit the blunt hard. Then flicked the bud on the ground.

“Better you than me. But anyway, have you heard anything about anyone talking?” I asked Rahlo looking him in his eyes like I always do when we talk business.

“Nah. The team is solid as far as I can see. But you amongst a crew of young stunnas, there’s bound to be a snake somewhere.” Rahlo said.

This nigga looked me straight in the eyes and showed no form of deception. It took everything in me to stifle my rage. It was obvious that this nigga had been playing me for a while.

“Believe it or not, I don’t have a problem with the snakes. It’s the rats that I have a problem with.” I said.

That statement made him look away and down to the ground.

“Bingo.” I thought to myself. I was going to have fun murking this nigga.

“I listen to gossip, and I haven’t heard anything in the streets about none of our soldiers being a rat. But you already know that if I had heard something, that I would’ve brought it to you. Why you got me all the way out here? Today is Reshelle’s off day, I was going to take my baby shopping.” Rahlo said.

“Nigga, you can still take her shopping. We’ll only be out here for fifteen minutes. The only person I trust other than my wife is your block head ass.” I lied.

“Everything that’s important to me and everything of value to me is here. Kiana wants to take a little vacation to Brazil. So, we can reconnect. Charmaine’s hoe ass really fucked my marriage up. While I’m gone, money still has to be made. Until I speak to the God. This is what I have left.” I said lifting the steel door showing Rahlo 6 beautifully wrapped pristine white bricks. He looked like he was about to start drooling and I wanted to laugh.

“Brick man, this ain’t enough. If you and Kiana are going out of the country. What the fuck is six bricks of uncut gonna do for business? You’ll be out of town, but people out here still got needs.

You need to meet with the connect before you go. I know you think that the quality is piss poor for the price. But we can get Vicky to test the work.

I’ll tell Charmaine to get her cleaned up because I don’t want her stinking ass in my car. Once she’s washed and dressed I’ll pick her up and let her test it. Bruh, why pay 33 when we can get it 17,5? With that extra money you could put that in the girl’s college fund. He’ll be here in a couple of days. Do you want to meet or no?” Rahlo asked.

Everything he just said was a violation. Words like bricks of uncut, test it, and connect where words we never used when speaking business. Even saying Vicky’s name was out of line because there wasn’t a law enforcement officer in the universe that didn’t know Vicky Valley was a certifiable junkie. My trigger finger started itching the moment he mentioned my daughter’s college fund.

Instead of murking this nigga like I wanted to, I sighed like I was going to give his proposal some thought.

“Holla at me when dude gets here. Go take your girl shopping. I’ll see you in a couple of days.” I said then got in my car and drove off. I smirked because Rodney Rawlings life was now on a count down.
