6 Months Later...
“After months of investigation, the case that Local Authorities and Federal Agents were attempting to build against reported King Pin Clifton Brick has been completely dismantled.
Confidential Informant Mr. Rodney Rawlings, Brick’s former best friend and supposed right hand man, informed Federal Agents that Brick was the mastermind behind Northeast Florida’s illegal drug distribution.
However, when agents searched all locations and supposed stash houses named by their informant, nothing was found. When agents reached out to their informant, with no answer, they found that the thirty five-year-old had died in his sleep from a massive heart attack.
Foul play was suspected, but after three autopsies, by three different medical examiners, there was nothing found in Rawlings system. It appears the stress of being labeled a rat was the only contributor to his death. I’m Ivory Addison reporting live from...”
“Ki, it’s been six months. Why do you watch this shit everyday?” Brick smirked as he walked out of the bathroom naked as the day he was born. As the shower water dripped from his chocolate muscle ripped body, Kiana’s mouth watered as if they hadn’t finished having sex thirty minutes ago.
Brick smirked at the lust that covered Kiana’s face. He stroked himself, teasing her before pulling his boxer briefs on. As he watched Kiana watching him, he thanked God that they were able to get their marriage back on track. Because he knew without a shadow of a doubt that he would’ve turned into a relentless stalker if she had divorced him. There wouldn’t be a corner of the world that she could go to escape him.
“Ki!”
“What?” She jumped as if she had just been pulled out of a trance.
“I asked you why you’re still watching that shit.” Brick asked as he got dressed.
“My bad. Damn. I saw something that looked like it tasted good.” Kiana smirked. “If you weren’t so damn fine, I wouldn’t be staring at your ass.” Kiana joked. “But anyway, I keep watching it because I learned so much that night. I’m still in awe that Mommy is a professional killer. Me and Mommy have always been close, I can’t believe she kept her past from me. All these years I kept wondering where I got my craziness from, just to find out that I got it from her cookie baking, church going ass.” Kiana laughed.
After the deed was done against Rahlo, Avalon told her family everything about her past. She even admitted that it was she that turned Vicky out by lacing her drink with pure cocaine.
Kiana was the only one shocked. Brick pretended to be shocked, but because Viola had already told him everything, the news didn’t hit him as hard the second time around.
Calvin admitted that her involvement in murder by plants had stunned him, but he knew about her involvement with her fathers drug operation.
“All parents keep things from their kids. We do it too. I gotta get ready to go to this business meeting. Come walk me downstairs. This is my last international trip. I don’t like leaving you here by yourself.” Brick said as he kissed Kiana’s round stomach.
As soon as Rahlo was confirmed dead, the news got them so excited that they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Because of them having sex in the car garage, kitchen, and pool, Baby Boy Brick would be making his appearance in a few months.
“Babe stop worrying. You know I can handle myself, and on top of that you know Mommy and Daddy will kill for me. So, stop worrying.” Kiana said as she followed her husband down the stairs.
As soon as they made it down the stairs, the doorbell chimed, causing Ava and Elise to appear out of nowhere.
“It’s grandpa!” They screamed as they got ready to run to the door.
“Aht Aht! Don’t go to that door. Y’all know better than that.” Brick scolded as he stopped his daughters from opening their front door.
They were now in a new city and he was not taking any chances of anyone harming his precious cargo.
“But Daddy.” Elise whined.
The stern look that Brick sent her way stopped her protest of opening the door. As soon as Brick opened the door, he burst into laughter.
“Oh my God.” Kiana said stunned. “Daddy what the hell are you wearing?” She asked as she read the ‘Grandpa Loves Baby Shark’ T-shirt.
Ever since the day he stepped back into his families life, Calvin had been the best parent and grandparent that he could be. He attended so many of Ava and Elise’s school functions and extra-curricular activities that their teachers assumed he was their father.
“What’s wrong with this? I thought it was pretty hip and cool.” Calvin said as he looked down at his custom-made T-shirt.
“No one says hip and cool Daddy. You sound as crazy as you look.” Kiana laughed. “Girls come tell your daddy goodbye and get ready to go.”
“Grandpa! We’re ready to go.” Ava and Elise sang as they ran to greet him. “Bye Daddy!” They waved as they prepared to run outside.
“Hey hey hey! Give me a hug and kiss. I’ll see y’all Sunday night. I love y’all.” Brick said as he kissed his daughters.
“Bye Beautiful.” Brick said as he kissed his wife then patted Calvin on the back before leaving.
“He’s going to...”
“I already know where he’s going.” Calvin admitted. After moving his entire family to Kansas City, Calvin did as he said he would and turned his business over to Brick. The only thing he wanted consuming his life, were his wife, daughter, and granddaughters.
“We’re out of here. We’ll be back by Five. Six at the latest. Your mama is flying back, I texted her and she never responded. So, if she calls you, it’s because I can’t answer my phone. Let her know where to find me. Love you Princess. Let’s go girls.” Calvin said as he grabbed his granddaughter’s hand.
“Love you too Daddy. Ava and Elise behave.” Kiana said before closing her door. She had to admit that she loved having her father back in her life. She and Calvin had grown so close that she never brought up the years that he was missing. Grabbing her iPad, she climbed onto her large comfortable couch and turned the news report on once again.
Hearing the news reporter say, “It appears the stress of being labeled a rat was the only contributor to his death” was her favorite part of the broadcast.
“That’s what your snitching ass gets.” Kiana said as she continued to watch the video. She was so engrossed that she didn’t even hear when her mother walked into her home.
“I’ve been gone for two weeks and you’re still doing the same thing. Kiana why do you go online and watch that news report every day?” Avalon asked as she stood over Kiana and smirked.
“Hey Mommy. I didn’t hear you come in.” Kiana said as she stood up and hugged her mother.
“I know you didn’t. Why are you still watching this?” Avalon asked.
“Because Mrs. Kennedy, every time I watch it, it makes me laugh. Rahlo deserved a painful death, but I guess mother knows best. How was it?” Kiana asked as she turned her iPad off and gave her mother her undivided attention.
“It was just as sad and pathetic as her life was. Only people that attended Vicky’s funeral was Charmaine, Felix, and their two kids.” Avalon said as she relayed the details of Vicky’s funeral.
After years of being strung out, Vicky had finally succumbed to her addiction. She laid in an alley decomposing in the Florida heat for two weeks before a sanitation worker discovered her body.
“Rahlo was racing to get to a prenatal appointment for a baby that wasn’t even his. Did you tell Charmaine your families secret?” Kiana said and shook her head.
She thanked God that DNA testing proved that Felix was the father, because even though she and Brick had made amends, she knew that they would be headed to divorce court if he was found to be the father of her Aunt Charmaine’s baby.
“I did tell her. She was shocked that she and I are sisters. She said she wanted you to be in her kids life, but she said she knew that she had done too much too hurt you. After the funeral was over, I caught the first flight out of Florida.” Avalon admitted.
After Rahlo’s untimely demise, Avalon and her family packed their things and moved to Kansas City with Calvin. With Calvin’s lucrative real estate business and all the properties that he owned, Kiana and Brick didn’t have to purchase a home because Calvin signed one of his million-dollar properties over to them.
“I called Cal when I got on the plane and told him I was flying back and not to go to the office. When I got home, he wasn’t there, he’s not at work, so I assumed he’d be here.” Avalon said as she rubbed her protruding stomach.
When she found out she was pregnant at Fifty-Five years old, she was mortified. In the decades that she and Calvin had been apart, she had entertained other men, and never ended up pregnant. Yet as soon as she and Calvin reconnected, she ended up pregnant with their third child, Calvin Kennedy Jr.
“Daddy came and got the girls about an hour ago. They’re at The Coterie Theatre. Daddy with all his connections got tickets to that Baby Shark Play. Then they’re going to Lego Land. I was glad he surprised them, they had no school today and they were driving me crazy. I’m glad for the peace and quiet.” Kiana said as she laid on the couch and rubbed her own protruding belly.
Calvin had stuck to his word and handed his operation and all his Dominican contacts over to Brick. He already had so much money that he wouldn’t be able to spend it all in two life times.
With Kiana now handling the accounting and loan negotiations for Kennedy Realty, he was ready to make her CEO of his realty business and retire.
Avalon smiled, because though her life had been good, being married to the man she loved since she was seventeen gave her a sense of fulfillment and completeness.
“Life is good Key-Key Bear. I don’t regret anything I did or had to do to get us to this point of our lives. If Brick or Calvin needed me to do it again, I wouldn’t hesitate. For my family, I have no problem being on my worst behavior.”
