Week 2: Purge your insecurities
"Argue for your limitations and, sure enough, they're yours."
~Richard Bach
One of the biggest obstacles to success is insecurity – the belief that you are somehow not good enough to rub shoulders with the high achievers and the movers and shakers of the world. Maybe you believe you are not smart enough, talented enough, or driven enough to achieve what you desire. If you don’t suffer from these fears, then good on you, but if you do, not only are you keeping yourself from all that you desire, you are telling yourself a bald-faced lie.
Nowhere is the phenomenon of thoughts becoming reality as powerful as it is with what you believe about yourself. If you think you're incapable of attaining success, it will bleed out into every aspect of your life. That niggling belief will cause you to falter when you try to overcome bad habits and instill good ones, it will dampen your cognitive abilities and stifle your creativity and it will spread into your interactions with others. Having the opposite beliefs will empower you to do and be what you want to be. Your perception of yourself rests entirely inside your mind, and it is well within your power to change. All human beings have the seed of greatness inside themselves. It is those who allow that seed to grow and flourish by believing that it is there and nurturing it that thrive and make it in life.
Weekly challenge:
Become aware and banish the negative beliefs you have about yourself. One of the best ways to do this is through affirmations: every day, look at yourself in the mirror and say to your image the qualities you wish to embody. “I am beautiful. I am intelligent. I am successful. I am creative…” Throw in what you want to be, and be specific too. It may sound hokey, but it works. As you say those words, your subconscious mind will begin to believe them and you will be equipped to unleash the gr
eatness inside you. Tell yourself who you want to be every day this week.
