CHAPTER 47

MADDIE

“Maddie and the girls want to start a gang,” Vera whispered into the phone.

I arched a brow at her, wondering why the hell she was whispering when we all could hear her and when she had put Blaise on speaker so—in Vera’s words—he could convince us that it was a bad idea.

“A gang?” he repeated. “What kind of gang?”

“Like one where we beat people up.”

“We’re planning to kick Carter’s ass!” I added while following behind Carter’s car.

“Damn, sounds like fun.” Blaise chuckled. “Does Poison know that you’re competing with them for business? Because if you’re not careful, Sunshine, they’ll wipe you off the board. Anyway, let me know how it goes. I’m proud of you.”

“Blaise?!” she exclaimed. “Did you not hear Maddie?! We’re going to beat up Carter.”

“Heard her loud and clear. Make sure you punch him real hard, like I showed you.”

Vera’s cheeks flushed, and she mumbled a good-bye to Blaise and shut off the phone. She slipped her phone into her purse and pursed her lips. “I still don’t think this is a good idea. What if we get into trouble?”

“Don’t worry about that,” I said. “My parents have money.”

“Mine too,” Allie, Imani, and Nicole said in unison from the backseat.

“Where do you think he’s going?” Nicole said, glancing out the windshield from the backseat of my car.

Vera sat up front with me, but the other girls were cramped in the back, wondering where the hell we were going.

Carter lived on the good side of town, but not in Alec’s neighborhood.

My stomach twisted as I watched Carter park three houses down from the Wolfes’. He flipped up his hoodie and walked with the coffees on the side of the road to Alec’s house. If this asshole was planning to visit Mr. Wolfe again, I swore to fucking God …

That was definitely something that I didn’t want Alec to walk in on again. Carter and Mr. Wolfe had some nerve, meeting up after what had happened last night, and this close to hockey practice ending too?!

“Let’s go!” I said, grabbing something from my glove box. “And be quiet.”

“Grab the duct tape!” Nicole whisper-yelled to Imani.

All the girls crawled out of the car and shut the doors quietly behind themselves. We hid behind some bushes on the neighbor’s property as Carter walked closer to the Wolfe residence, completely oblivious to us.

“Maddie,” Nicole whispered, “what is that in your hand?”

“You’ll see.”

“Shh!” Allie whispered. “He’s coming.”

I glanced around the corner to see him feet from us now. And just before he could walk onto the Wolfes’ property, I leaped out of the darkness.

“Now!” I said, watching as the girls mobbed him, our hands pushing and shoving and gripping on to him.

Hot coffee spilled all over Carter, hopefully burning off his dick.

Once we tackled him to the ground, we taped his mouth with the duct tape that Imani had had in her car, probably from a job that she had done with Poison at some point. I wasn’t going to question it.

“Wait!” I said, ripping the tape off his mouth and shoving the dildo from my glove box into his mouth. I snapped it shut with the tape so he couldn’t spit it back out. “Choke on a fucking dick, you prick.”

Allie straddled his waist to keep him relatively still as she twirled the tape roll around his wrist so he couldn’t fight back. And then she slammed her fist into his pretty-boy face as hard as she could, breaking his nose in three places.

“Kick his ass!” Nicole said, slamming her heel into his abdomen.

We kicked, hit, and punched the helpless asshole, who flopped around like a worm on the ground, covering his head and shielding his face. And while he was on the football team, he was no match for seven women he’d pissed off.

Sakura even got a couple of punches in on him too, which surprised me because she was a good girl who barely said a few words. But between this and Mr. Avery, that girl had a wild side that I wanted to see more of.

Ah, peer pressure at its finest.

At some point, one of the girls pulled out a stick of Sin lipstick and used it to write all over his skin with the words piece of shit, asshole, dickhead, and more expletives that anyone at Redwood would agree with.

If Alec found out about this, he’d be so angry with me, but I couldn’t stop beating the shit out of Carter. I wanted the world—especially Redwood—to burn for what they had done to all of us because it wasn’t fair. None of this was fair.

But after a few moments, Carter stopped grunting and stopped protecting himself altogether.

I pushed myself off him and stood up with the rest of the girls, mouth parting slightly.

Vera stepped back, blood dripping from her fist. “I-is he dead?”
