Keeping the Musée d’Orsay to your right, walk along the river and turn right onto rue du Bac. Then take a left onto rue de l’Université and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration will be on your right at No. 12. Until recently this fine building was home to the famous Ecole Nationale d’Administration, which has since moved to Strasbourg. This is where many of France’s political, economic and scientific elite were educated.
Originally built as two houses by architect Briçonnet in the 1640s, this elegant mansion dates from 1713 and was built by Thomas Gobert for the widow of Denis Feydeau de Brou. She left it to her son, Paul-Espirit Feydeau de Brou, who lived in it until his death in 1767. It then became the home of the Venetian ambassador. It was used as a munitions depot during the Revolution.
