Although the source material used in this book was drawn from a wide variety of both printed and Internet resources, there are a few that need to be singled out for specific thanks, as it could not have been completed without them.
As a historical resource, Jimmy McDonough’s semiofficial Neil Young biography Shakey is simply unmatched in terms of little-known, often obscure details. It also served as an essential fact checker over the course of compiling the information here. Daniel Durchholz and Gary Graff’s Long May You Run: The Illustrated History also proved invaluable, particularly when it came to obtaining Billboard peak chart positions for Young’s many albums and checking release dates.
As for Internet resources, Human Highway.com was my go-to place to check lyrical references. Thrasher’s Wheat/Neil Young News was likewise a daily must-visit in keeping up with all the latest developments in the ever-changing Neil Young universe (causing me to rewrite entire chapters more than once). Thrasher himself also proved to be a very supportive partner in this process, feeding me lots of information and playing a pivotal role in helping me to obtain some of the amazing images in this book by posting the need for them on his site. Without his partnership and counsel, the book you now hold in your hands simply would not have been possible.
