In the middle of summer, when the heat is too much at midday, it can be nice get outside for a moment or two during breakfast. A batido (a smoothie with a Latin accent) is the perfect portable companion.
In a blender combine ½ cup fresh or frozen blackberries, ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries, ¾ cup buttermilk or plain kefir, ¼ large ripe avocado, and ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice. Whiz together until smooth and creamy. Taste and sweeten with a bit of agave syrup, if desired.
