Week 5 Day 5
There’s Never Enough to Argue
This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.
1 John 5:14
He who for man their Surety stood,
And poured on earth his precious blood,
Pursues in heaven his mighty plan,
The Saviour and the friend of man.
With boldness, therefore, at the throne,
Let us make all our sorrows known;
And ask the aid of heavenly power,
To help us in the evil hour.
Abraham Lincoln was a man of action. While others squabbled and bickered, he made things happen. Instead of participating in fruitless, endless arguments, he spent his time and energy making a positive difference in the lives of other people. “A man has no time to spend half his life in quarrels,” wrote Lincoln. Are you apt to pick a fight when you could be taking action? It’s easy to get off-course in life with endless wrangling. Instead of trying to win arguments, you could better spend your passions and energy on things that matter. Be like Lincoln—don’t quarrel. Make up your mind to stay focused on important things.
