Stay Focused

Thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

See Thou, who dost in secret see,

And grant my heart’s desire.

One of Lincoln’s greatest strengths was his ability to keep his attention on the primary things. It’s easy to get sidelined in life. The hectic pace often dissuades us from the important things. “At every step we must be true to the main purpose,” Lincoln reminded the country during the Civil War. For Lincoln, the main purpose of the Union was justice, freedom, and unity. He stayed focused and kept moving toward it. Are you attentive to the main purpose of your life, or are you off-focus? Think about the things that are most important to you and try to stay true to your main purpose.
