Week 7 Day 3

The Problem with Advice

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

1 Thessalonians 4:12

Come, let us search our ways, and try

Have they been just and right;

Is the great rule of equity

Our practice and delight?

In all we sell, in all we buy,

Is justice our design?

Do we remember God is nigh,

And fear the wrath Divine?

In a conversation with L. E. Chittenden, Registrar of the Treasury, Lincoln once explained why, at times, he ignored the advice of other people. “In almost every instance where I have yielded to the views of others, I have had occasion to regret it,” he told Chittenden. “I am satisfied that when the Almighty wants me to do or not to do a particular thing, he finds a way of letting me know.” Lincoln knew better than to rely on human advice. Instead, he went to God for answers. Do you rely on earthly advice or on heavenly answers? Don’t rely too much on the opinions of other people when God is able and willing to give you the answers through prayer.
