Week 7 Day 5
Be Selfless
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1
From Egypt lately freed
By the Redeemer’s grace,
A rough and thorny path we tread
In hopes to see his face.
The flesh dislikes the way,
But faith approves it well;
This only leads to endless day,
All others lead to hell.
Before Abraham Lincoln met his wife, Mary Todd, he made his intentions clear that whomever he might marry, he would make her happy. He once told a friend, “Whatever woman may cast her lot with mine, should any ever do so, it is my intention to do all in my power to make her happy and contented; and there is nothing I can imagine that would make me more unhappy than to fail in the effort.” Lincoln’s selfless approach to life was uncommon and an example for us all. Is your aim in life to make yourself happy or to make other people happy? If you, like Lincoln, set as your goal in life to make other people happy, the end result will very likely be that you too will be happy.
