Week 9 Day 2
Have Fun While You’re at It
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Psalm 42:5

The darkest wave hath bright foam near it;
And twinkles through the cloudiest night
Some solitary star to cheer it.
Are the gregarious less successful in life? Lincoln didn’t think so. And if they were, then he didn’t want any part of success. “It’s a common notion that those who laugh heartily often never amount to much. . . . If this be the case, farewell to all my glory,” he insisted. If you can’t enjoy life, with all its pleasures, and still be successful, then Lincoln thought it was probably better to just enjoy life. Have the pressures of your life made things dry and dull? Has success been “worth it” for you? If not, then check to see if you’re still able to enjoy yourself in the midst of success. Lincoln did. So can you.
