Week 9 Day 3
Choose Your Words Wisely
When the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.
John 15:26
In the hour of my distress,
When temptations me oppress,
And when I my sins confess—
Sweet Spirit, comfort me.
Those who talk the most often say the least. That was Lincoln’s philosophy. Even before he was elected president, Abraham Lincoln was known for his quiet, reflective manner. He preferred listening to speaking, and when he did speak, it mattered. “I am very little inclined on any occasion to say anything,” he admitted, “unless I hope to produce some good by it.” Do you talk too much, spending time in endless chatter? Often those who say the least seem the wisest. Be careful what you say and how you say it. Think before you speak. Then you, like Lincoln, will be recognized by others to be wise.
