Week 9 Day 4

Let God Be Sovereign

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace.

2 Thessalonians 2:16

In every trouble, sharp and strong,

My soul to Jesus flies;

My anchor-hold is firm, on him,

When swelling billows rise.

After several years of war, Lincoln felt helpless. “I attempt no compliment to my own sagacity. I claim not to have controlled events, but confess plainly that events have controlled me,” he admitted. “Now, at the end of three years’ struggle, the nation’s condition is not what any man devised or expected. God alone can claim it.” Instead of despairing in his own lack of success, he acknowledged that God was in control. All that was left for Lincoln to do was to give it up to God. Have you given God your hopeless situations? Instead of despairing, tell God that you’re giving your troubles up to him.
