Week 10 Day 5

Admit When You’re Wrong

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Psalm 32:11

Let those refuse to sing

Who never knew the Lord;

But children of the heavenly King

Should speak their joys abroad.

Lincoln was an honest man, and he wasn’t too big to take back his words if he misstated a fact or made an error in his judgment. He did so happily, with a contrite heart. “I have always wanted to deal with everyone I meet candidly and honestly,” he said. “If I have made any assertion not warranted by facts, and it is pointed out to me, I will withdraw it cheerfully.” Lincoln wasn’t ashamed to admit he was wrong, because his confidence did not rely on what others thought of him. Are you stubborn, afraid to admit a mistake? You will gain more confidence by simply admitting when you’re wrong. People won’t think less of you. In fact, they will think more.
