Week 11 Day 2

Don’t Be Deceived

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

John 15:11

Art thou not mine, my living Lord?

And can my hope, my comfort die,

Fix’d on thine everlasting word—

The word that built the earth and sky.

As a politician, Lincoln saw a lot of men swindle their way to the top. Early on, he decided to take a different road. “I am glad of all the support I can get anywhere,” he said as a young Illinois congressman, “if I can get it without practicing any deception to obtain it.” To Lincoln the means was as important as the end, and he refused to use corrupt means to get to the end. Do you have to cheat your way to the top? Integrity means being honest with other people at all times, not just when it serves to better your current position. Lincoln refused to deceive others on his climb to the top, and his integrity served to promote his purposes. It will do the same for you.
