Week 11 Day 5

Stand for the Truth

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Colossians 3:13

May we each with each agree,

Through thy uniting grace:

Our gift shall thine accepted be,

Our life be love and praise.

Perhaps one of Lincoln’s greatest strengths was his inflexible defense of the truth. To Lincoln, the truth wasn’t flexible, and he made it clear to all that he wouldn’t stand for anything but the truth. He couldn’t be coaxed or bribed, and he asked everyone else to do the same. “Stand with anybody that stands right. Stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong,” observed Lincoln. Sometimes in life you have to part ways with those who take the low road. Do you put up with dishonest people in your life? At times you have to part with those who compromise their integrity, or you’ll lose your own.
