Week 14 Day 2

What to Do When Ridiculed

Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? . . . And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind.

Luke 10:25, 27

Yes, I would love thee, blessed God!

Paternal goodness marks thy name;

Thy praises, through thy high abode,

The heavenly hosts with joy proclaim.

If you don’t expect to find any criticism in life, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Lincoln knew it was coming and got used to it. “I have endured a great deal of ridicule without much malice and have received a great deal of kindness, not quite free from ridicule. I am used to it,” he said. If you make up your mind to expect to be criticized, then maybe the ridicule won’t hurt so much. Are you surprised by criticism? Are you taken off-guard when somebody says something disparaging? Lincoln got used to the criticism, so it didn’t impede his progress. The best thing to do right now is to get used to being criticized. If you do, it won’t hurt you as much.
