Week 14 Day 4
Be Transparent
Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Romans 13:11
The time is short, but who can tell
How short his time below may be?
To-day on earth his soul may dwell,
To-morrow in eternity.
Part of being sincere is to be totally pure in actions and deeds and thus to be clearly understood. “I [wish to be] so clear,” Lincoln wrote, “no honest man can misunderstand me and no dishonest one successfully misrepresent me.” Lincoln’s simplicity caused other people around him to trust him and to be transparent in their dealings with him. He left no room for confusion or doubt. It was his simple approach to life and business that made other people trust him. Are you transparent in all you do? Or do you leave room for suspicion? It’s hard to be trusted if you don’t give straight answers. Try to be unambiguous in life, making your plans plain to everyone who comes in contact with you.
