Week 15 Day 1
Earn Their Respect
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold . . . but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
1 Peter 1:18–19
Our sins and griefs on him were laid;
He meekly bore the mighty load:
Our ransom price he fully paid,
By offering up himself to God.
Contrary to popular opinion, respect is not necessarily earned by intelligence, charm, or power. According to Abraham Lincoln, all it takes is sincerity. “The world shall know that I will keep my faith to friends and enemies, come what will,” wrote Lincoln. And the world did know and came to respect him for it. What we remember Lincoln for today isn’t a magnetic personality or genius-like intelligence; rather, we remember him for his honest and humble approach to life and work. He was authentic. Are you trying the hard way to get respect, or have you tried the easy way—to tell the truth? Having integrity and dealing honestly are the easiest ways to earn respect.
