God’s Justice Prevails

Whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Bound to one Lord, by common vow

According to Lincoln, God has fundamental principles that just can’t be avoided. These are the things we should reply on and fight for. According to Lincoln, justice was rooted in God’s sovereignty. It was something God ordained. “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, cannot long retain it,” he said. There was no running away from justice, Lincoln implied, because God intended all men to live in freedom and liberty. You can’t run away from God and his purposes, not for long. Are you running from God and his will? Remember, his purposes always prevail.
