Week 17 Day 3
Choose Your Battles Wisely
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2 Corinthians 2:11
Fear not Satan’s strong temptations
Though they tease thee day by day,
And thy evil inclinations
Overwhelm thee with dismay!
Thou shalt conquer,
Through the Lamb’s redeeming blood.
Rightly choosing what to fight for and what to let go was one of Lincoln’s strengths. “Yield larger things to which you can show no more than equal right; and yield lesser ones, though clearly your own,” he wrote. While some people contend for everything and try to show up others at just about everything they do, Lincoln was satisfied with winning only those battles that mattered. “It’s better to give your path to a dog than be bitten by him in contesting for the right. Even killing the dog would not cure the bite.” Are you always fighting for your rights? Sometimes it’s best to give up and let someone else win a battle. If you’re going to win your war, you have to choose your battles wisely.
