Think It Through

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Matthew 6:13

Protect us in the dangerous hour,

And from the wily tempter’s power,

Lord, set our spirits free;

And if temptation should assail

May mighty grace o’er all prevail,

And lead our hearts to thee.

Don’t act too fast. That was Lincoln’s philosophy. He was introspective, and he liked to ponder things before making a move. He would investigate, research, pray, and ask others for their opinion. “I am never easy now, when I am handling a thought, till I have bounded it north and bounded it south, and bounded it east and bounded it west,” he explained. It’s easy to act fast, to move on intuition, but later we may regret it. Taking a little more time to make a decision can make all the difference, especially when in prayer. Do you act too fast, or do you take time to think? Before making your next decision, make sure you take the time to look at it from all sides.
