Strive to Finish
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12
From strength to strength go on,
Wrestle, and fight, and pray;
Tread all the powers of darkness down,
And win the well-fought day.
According to Lincoln, the ability to be successful depended largely on one’s own determination and resolve. He encouraged the country to make every effort. He told the Union, “Let us strive on to finish the work we are in: to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan—to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves, and with all nations.” Strive to finish the race. If you are absolutely resolved to make it to the end, you’ll be surprised at how much you can accomplish. How many things were never achieved because someone quit too early? Like Lincoln, be resolved to run until the race is over.
