Week 22 Day 2

The Value of Action

Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.

Ephesians 4:1–2

Meekness, humility, and love,

Did through thy conduct shine;

Oh may my whole deportment prove

A copy, Lord, of thine.

Lincoln was a reflective man not often prone to impulsiveness. But when conditions warranted action, he was swift and decisive. He didn’t ponder things so long as to lose an opportunity. The ability to take action was important to Lincoln. He viewed it as a defining characteristic, one that separated leaders from followers. “He who does something at the head of one regiment will eclipse him who does nothing at the head of a hundred,” he told a Union soldier. Do you lose opportunities in life because you are afraid to make decisions? Sometimes the best action to take is simply to take action. Those who achieve the most are often the ones who aren’t afraid to make decisions.
