Week 23 Day 2

Be Organized

His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

Psalm 72:17

Lord, let the thought of that bright day

Kindle our hopes, and warm our love;

Cheer us while here on earth we pray,

And crown our songs in heaven above.

Never claiming to be perfect, Lincoln admitted his mistakes. A general had sent an important letter, which Lincoln said he never received. He later remembered that he did receive the letter and admitted, “When I received the letter, I put it in my old hat and, buying a new one the next day, the old one was set aside; and so, the letter was lost sight of for a time.” Most of the time Lincoln was organized, but this one time he admitted that he wasn’t. Being organized might seem like a minor personal characteristic in comparison to values like honesty and integrity. But for Lincoln during the war, structure and organization were of equal importance. Virtues like honesty and integrity bring respect and admiration, but without an organized plan, it’s hard to succeed.
