Week 27 Day 3

Look at All Your Alternatives

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.

James 2:8

Love lays its own advantage by

To seek its neighbour’s good;

So God’s own Son came down to die,

And bought our lives with blood.

Love is the grace that keeps its power,

In all the realms above;

There faith and hope are known no more

But saints for ever love.

Before quitting do you try every possibility? Do you look at all your options? “I shall not surrender this game leaving any available card unplayed,” said Lincoln to his dog-tired generals. Look at all your alternatives before surrendering. Sometimes the last card played wins the match. It’s easy to be dissuaded when you’re down, when you think you’ve lost. But no matter how far behind, you never know your chances until you take them all. Lincoln could have quit early in the war. He could have compromised and negotiated a settlement. Instead, he instructed his generals to look for other alternatives. He told them to be creative and seek out hidden, yet-to-be-seen ways to defeat the Confederacy. Is that what you do when you’re behind? For anyone who’s ever come from behind to win, has there ever been any other way? Be sure to look at all your alternatives.
