Week 28 Day 2

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

1 John 4:15

I’ll tell to all poor sinners round,

How great a Saviour I have found;

I’ll point to his redeeming blood,

And say, “Behold the way to God.”

Have you ever known a person who said very little but worked very hard? These kind of people are generally well liked and successful. Lincoln was known for his great oratorical skills. People would come from many miles just to hear him speak. But Lincoln himself did not consider articulate and moving speech as an indication of a successful person. “Many eloquent men fail utterly. . . . They are not, as a class, generally successful.” What did Lincoln mean? Simply put, actions speak louder than words. We all know people who talk a lot but say little and act even less. What’s important in life is not what you say but what you do. No one is remembered just for his or her words, especially if they were not acted upon. So if you’re going to gain the trust of others, just work hard.
