Admit Your Mistakes

How many times have you held your ground, even when you knew you were wrong? It’s hard to admit when you’re wrong, but we all respect those who do. Lincoln was quick to admit his mistakes and errors. He didn’t like for anyone to think he was being dishonest or fraudulent. So anytime he was proven wrong, he immediately confessed. “Holding it a sound maxim that it is better to be only sometimes right than at all times wrong,” he said, “so soon as I discover my opinions to be erroneous I shall be ready to renounce them.” The secret to being able to admit your mistakes is to do it soon. The longer it goes, the harder it gets. That’s why Lincoln said “so soon as I discover. . . .”
