Week 32 Day 1
Stand Firm
This God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
Psalm 48:14
Haste thee on from grace to glory,
Arm’d by faith, and wing’d by prayer;
Heaven’s eternal day’s before thee,
God’s own hand shall guide thee there.
Abraham Lincoln knew the secret to winning. He knew the surefire way to victory anytime and anywhere. “We shall not fail,” he said. “If we stand firm, we shall not fail.” Lincoln’s secret was to stand firm. That meant not backing down, holding one’s ground and not quitting. Most people do quit too early. They give up in the face of failure. They don’t persevere. Lincoln knew that all it took to win in any given situation was to be the last person standing. So he simply stood firm. How many times might you have won something if you had waited just a little longer? Sometimes all winning in life takes is to be a little more patient and enduring. If you stand firm long enough, you’re bound to be the last person standing.
