Respect the Opinions of Older Generations

Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? and this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD.

Render’d safe by his protection,

I shall pass the watery waste;

Trusting to his wise direction,

I shall gain the port at last;

And with wonder,

Think on toils and dangers past.

Where do you go for help when you need good advice? Lincoln went to the aged, the more mature and seasoned people. “I love the sentiments of those old-time men and shall be most happy to abide by their opinions.” It may not always be the most common or popular place to go, but sometimes you’ll find the best advice from those who have experienced the most in life—the older generation.
