Week 33 Day 5
Make Haste
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15–16
Let every flying hour confess
I gain the gospel fresh renown;
And when my life and labours cease,
May I possess the promised crown.
To Abraham Lincoln, time was a precious commodity. It was one of the few things that could be lost forever. The future of America was at risk, and time was always of the essence. “There is not a moment of time to be lost,” he sternly told Union soldiers. Do you often let time go by without taking advantage of the opportunity to make a difference? Lincoln relaxed and rested, but he also never let a waste of time ruin his chances for success. He was punctual, and he didn’t procrastinate. Time can be your best friend or your worst enemy. And there’s no stopping it. If you try to make Lincoln’s timely philosophy a part of your life and remember not to lose moments of time that you can’t ever take back, you’ll never regret your use of time.
