Revelation 3:12
The everlasting doors
Shall soon the saints receive,
Above, with angel powers,
In glorious joy to live:

With God eternally shut in.
We’ve all said things we wished we hadn’t, especially in anger. When tempers flare, it’s easy to hurt people by saying things we don’t mean. Later, when the situation has calmed, the embarrassment of realizing what was said can often break a relationship. That’s why it’s always a good idea to hastily plead for forgiveness. Lincoln seldom lost his temper, but, when he did, he could say some pretty mean and nasty things. That’s why he’d always follow up by begging for forgiveness. His friendships were more important than his pride, and he knew the sooner he tried to mend fences, the better. “It is always magnanimous to recant whatever we may have said in passion,” advised Lincoln.
